About Us

Pictor Gallery Custom Framing opened it's doors on 5th November 1995 by the owner Lawrence Robinson, a local man who had previously worked overseas as a land surveyor.

We quickly became members of the Fine Art Trade Guild, the only recognised professional body for framers in the country. The Guild standards have been developed by and for the industry, and are designed to protect consumers' art as well as providing clear guidelines for manufacturers, framers, publishers and fine art printers.

We have over 22 years of experience in framing and continue to keep up with the same high standards the Guild recognise and promote. Framing is a personal thing and we treat each job as if it was going on our own gallery wall. What sets us apart is our creativity, attention to detail and our one to one service to deliver the best framing solution for our customers.

Gunnar National Framing Competition

In 2017 we were the runners up in the Gunnar National Framing Competition held at the NEC Birmingham whose theme was 'The Car'. We didn't have much time and the only car we had was a small Hotwheels James Bond Aston Martin still in its packaging.

The inert bullets are real and the same used in Bond's Walther PpK handgun. The result was a multi-layered gun barrel effect focusing on the car highlighted by the wheel of bullets. The mounts and logo were cut with our computerised cutter.

I have had several items framed at Pictor Gallery and on each occasion, Lawrence has helped me choose the right frame. There is a really good choice of styles and colours and professionalism and craftsmanship is the key here. I have been more than happy with the quality and look of the finished articles.

I’ve used Lawrence for years now and wouldn’t go anywhere else. He’s an absolute craftsman, and his advice on choice of frames has been brilliant.
I have pictures that he framed for me years ago that still attract comments from friends and visitors, as do all the ones he did recently for me when we moved house. I used to live close by but now I happily drive for an hour to his shop. His expertise is worth it. He’s brilliant.

Lawrence has just framed two oil paintings we purchased in Italy and we are very pleased with the service [ both initial advice and framing ] he provided.
It was a pleasure to deal with a conscientious professional who clearly ‘loves’ his work
